My room was truly beautiful. It consisted of a sitting room with antique furniture and a sleeping room next to it, with a wooden panel separating the space. The sitting room was very spacious with a small fridge and kettle to make coffee (it would be good if they also provided tea). Downstairs the entire ground floor of the building is full of lovely antique furniture and sitting areas for the guests to enjoy. The hotel is located on a road that did not have a lot of car traffic compared to some other streets in Georgetown. The cafe/restaurant attached the hotel serves tasty meals. The hotel staff were very friendly. There are plenty of restaurants and food within minutes of the hotel, but that would be the case for any hotel in Georgetown. The Red Garden Food Paradise, an undercover area with lots of food stalls, is about a 5 minute walk away. Shout out to the Florist cafe next door that has a dark sesame latte! It was delicious. There are a few issues to highlight, that come with the age of the building. There is an air con in the sitting room. Because the ceiling in the sitting room is so high, you need the fans in both rooms on high to keep the room cool. The fan in the bedroom was not a ceiling fan, but attached to a wall, and as such there was the constant whir of the fans. I don’t mind the sound of fans, so it was ok for me. The two windows in the room have stain glass panels above them which let in light early in the morning. So bring an eye mask if you need a dark room, like myself, to sleep. The door to the bathroom is like swinging a French style wooden door and when it swings back to close it made an annoyingly loud clang. I can see that they have tried to put some rubber around the edges to absorb some of the impact but it is not working. And lastly the hot water was tepid at best.

Beautiful, rustic property that’s tastefully decorated without compromising comfort and utility. We had a room that was separate from the others, which gave us privacy. Very big room with a separate shower room and toilet (a rarity!). Complimentary tea/coffee in the room; air-con and fan along with a comfortable sofa. Two single beds and both of them were huge (haven’t seen such beds even in 5-star hotels!). Very helpful and courteous staff who helped us carry our luggage to the first-floor room. The in-house restaurant served delicious and hearty breakfast (complimentary) and offered affordable lunch and dinner options (big portion sizes). Excellent water flow and pressure in the shower/bathroom. The floor in the shower drained water quickly, removing the risk of falls (loved their flooring which made it possible). Hotel is quite close to the ferry station with easy access through Grab (local Uber). Beautiful and quiet neighborhood with good eateries and old-style buildings in the nearby areas. Loved walking around George Town, especially in the neighborhood. We also got a late checkout option!

The loft suite that we stayed in was in a self contained house across the street from the reception area. The whole house was furnished in traditional style and very atmospheric. The suite itself was huge, with a lovely seating area and two separate (double) beds in the downstairs area, plus a spacious loft area, big enough to have a large bed and a seating area. There were also two bathrooms, one on each level, and a balcony (although it was mostly too hot to sit outside and enjoy that outdoor area). Everything was clean and in good repair and a very special environment to relax in when coming in from our hot walks around town. The staff was welcoming and helpful and there is a cafe on site that caters for breakfast, lunch and dinner. We only had one breakfast there, which was good. The only reason we didn't eat there more often was that there were many excellent neighbouring cafes that we were keen to sample.

We stayed at the Loft Suite which was located across the road from the main building, in one of the traditional heritage Peranakan homes. Even though It was 1 of the 4 suites nestled in the premises, it was massive with a lounge, dining area, 2 bathrooms, and 3 king/queen beds, including 1 shared bed in the attic. The children loved the space and we all enjoyed the unique decoration or theme. The staff were extremely helpful, friendly and welcoming (Linda, Nini and Ayu). They even prepared a welcome afternoon tea with the Nyonya delicacies.

It is a historical building/. It is huge. It is well maintained and clean for what it is. A hotel room would be cleaner since it would be smaller and all the surfaces would be designed to be cleaned. But this is a historical heirloom. So a joy to stay here... despite my wife being more comfortable in a normal 5* hotel. Given the design of the 4 rooms per house. This would be a great meeting house for 4 sibiings and their families to meet and live in one house - yet have separate annexes.
